I haven't ordered a converter yet for my 998 in a 74
AMX but received the fol reply from TCI:
'Our breakaway series converter should work perfectly
for you. I assume you need the Chrysler style
converter ( starter ring gear is welded on the
torque converter). The part number for this
converter is 141300. It will give you a stall speed
around 2400 rpms, yet remain very driveable. Thank
you for considering TCI.'
If I order from them do I need to tell them to remove
the ring gear? Thanks.

Rob,
I'm using a Coan (http://www.coanracing.com) converter
in my Gremlin
w/727
transmission. Stall is 3200 RPM. It's even pretty
tight just tooling
around
town. Be sure to tell them it's for an AMC so it comes
ready to install
(without a ring gear).
