Only Rambler American convertible rear seats wull fit in Rambler American convertibles. Convertibles have the top lift mechanism on either side of the rear seat, this then requires a much narrower rear seat.
1964-1967 American convertibles share the same basic body, so the convertible rear seats are thus the same. Per my 1967 AMC data book, the sedan rear seat is 57.12" wide; the convertible rear seat is 42.40" wide.
So, bottom line you need a convertible back seat to fit in a convertible.
If you didn't have anything at all, I suppose it might be possible to cut down the seat frame from a sedan, but you would have to be desperate.

I think that I have seen a Rambler American project car (parts car?) on E-Page recently. You might check.
