My take on the T5 thing is this.

The Ford versions of the T5s fit more easily in our AMCs right?  Then go to 
a Ford source to research T5s and stay away from the Camaro/Firebird 
versions.  There was a good article in Mustang Monthly in the last couple of 
years which explained the differences in the t5 world class and nonworld 
class versions.  I do remember that the world class transmissions have 
bearings supporting the main shaft and NWC versions have bushings.  The 
input shaft itself is beefier in the WC version.  I'm talking off the top of 
my head here but I did get a Mustang WC T5 to put behind the 232 in my 76 
Gremlin.  I hope to get to that before too long.
