headers for road racers

Hey AMC fans,

Can some of you guys with AMC Road Racing experience tell me what headers
you are using?
I keep seeing the headers for drag racing that stick below the cross member
or what appears to
stick below the cross member, and wonder how a car that has been dropped for
road racing can
maintain a livable clearance.  I wonder what the headers on the Spirit
Wheelie competition winner
look like after it was done jumping sky high and bouncing several times.
Suppose they're squashed
flat?  Those headers that go below the frame by the cross member are surely
begging for abuse
on any street driven car much less one that has been dropped.
