Re: URGENT! IH 401 RWD, what tranny?

If it is a 4 spd. it will be the first I have ever heard of behind a 401 engine. I was always under the assumption that IH always used automatics behind that engine. If it is, it would be extremely rare. It will probably be an IH tranny with the low first gear.

Apparently the others didn't notice "four speed". It's most likely a T-10. If not, it's a heavy duty truck four speed with a granny low. Either way it's probably worth picking up along with the engine if you can get it at a good price. You can always run really high (low numeric) gears if it turns out to have a really low first.

Looks like I may be picking up a running 401 from an
IH pickup RWD... I did not know this was an option,
however, it is definetely an AMC 401. So, what RWD
trans could this be? I have not had a real good look
at the trans, however, I need ot decide whether to buy
the whole set or not by tomorrow. It is a 4 spd, RWD
74 IH pickup (or maybe 76, I can't remember).

Thanks,
