Pretty close would work. Where are you finding them?
A local parts store, non-chain, though I swear I've got them from
crappy old AutoZone. Here are my inadequate notes:
Radiator hose, upper (B) 70471cs (needs cutting) non-A/C!
Radiator hose, upper ECR 20982 (with A/C)
Radiator hose, lower 1.5" x 1.75" x 19.25", FLEX DOES NOT FIT
I don't know whose number 70471cs is. NAPA?
This is for my 63 classic, but it's a 232, and pretty much all the
top hoses are the same. The "needs cutting" is because I have the
wrong radiator in the car, it's closer to the block and the
connection is not in the stock location. It's mostly a simple "L"
but one end has a slight cant.
The "with A/C" hose accomodates my bizarre AC belt situation, I
had to run the idler up and over the filler neck. It's a
later-model host, but it should also fit.
My newly-aquired (but old) Gates catalog indicates Gates # 21203
is the right one.
If all else fails, ask for, in order, gates #'s:
20166, 22166, 21660, 20267. The last is short, the others long.
