Re: "Redline" synthetic transmission oil?

I used their engine oil in an '84 Cherokee with a high compression 2.46L
4-banger, and had no problems with oil breakdown. I currently use Redline
75W140 in my '02 Dodge Ram 1-ton axles, and I haven't had a problem in 2,800
miles (and it is still a medium brown). I won't use the auto tranny lube at
all, warranty issues with DC.

How long was it before he got it changed? I won't run ANY gear lube longer
than 18 months or 30,000 miles before changing it. (Arctic environment.) 6
months or 15,000 miles if I'm hauling my slide-in camper.

The company's products were supposedly made initally for racing, and have
since been refomulated for heavy-duty use. (Or so they say.) For the VW
Golf, I'd suggest using Mobil 1 instead. More cost effective, and it will
provide the same level of protection. I'll be using Mobil 1 in my diesel's
engine when it hits 40,000 for that reason. Red Line just costs too much!
