Sorry Brien, but I still fail to see the advantage of having a computer that goes into "limp mode" when you run over a pothole! I have found, through bitter experience, that the OBDII (On Board Diagnostics Generation 2) computers are cranky, difficult to work with, and just about require a degree in Electronics Engineering to repair the 4.0L properly. There is also several miles of wiring and all emissions components that MUST be swapped in as well, or else the darn thing either doesn't run, or runs poorly and stalls frequently! I have found that the '87 to '92 4.0Ls are very good engines, very reliable, and easily repaired by the average home mechanic. They are also much easier to graft into an older vehicle's wiring harness. I know, I did just that! ('89 engine into '73 Jeep pickup harness.) And, if emissions are not a concern where you live, you can eliminate the components, and the engine will not even notice! (IF you need a 4.0L HO (High Output), look for a '92. The OBDII setup started in '93.) If you want to keep the 258ci (4.2L) 6cyl you have, check Napa Auto Parts at www.napaonline.com. Yes, they ship. You're looking at $504 for standard rings, and $509 for premium rings. Plus shipping. Or find a store near you. I use Napa parts regularly at my shop, so I know their engine master kits are good.
