Re: Brake cylinder needed!! Urgent!!

I know it's not ideal but can you not hone your cylinders out and clean them up and re-use the internals until you find the right replacement parts? At the very least it would probably at get you on the road.

Subject: Brake cylinder needed!! Urgent!!

Hi Guys,

I need the rear brake cylinders for my 1980 Spirit with the 258 and 9 x 2 inch brakes.

I cannot find the right one anywhere in East Texas. Been to AutoZone, O'reilly and others, and called everywhere. They all come up with the same number, and it won't fit. So either someone at some time has switched the rear axle out with something I don't know, or something is wrong.

The cylinder has a round, flat spot (perpendicular to the pistons) that mounts to the back plate for the brakes. This is where the brake line hooks in. It looks to be about 1 3/16 inches in diameter. The line and bleeder valve are in this cirlce. And it has "Bendix 309789" stamped into it.

I can take a picture of it if it will help.

My daily driver is now dead in the garage. HELP!!!

Please let me know any info ASAP. Any of you vendors got one?!!!!
I'll take one for both sides, but I have to have one for driver side.

Thanks in advance,

William Lewis
