69 AMX 390 Go Pack possibly for sale

If anyone is interested, I have a loaded 390 automatic Bittersweet and white
stripe 69 AMX from California that I may be willing to sell. This is a
factory Gopack, Auto 390 car with AC, leather, tilt, AM/FM. PS, PB, remote
rear mirror control, front disks and tinted windows. It currently has Ford
14 X 8 chrome Magnum 500 wheels on it with older tires.

When I bought the car last November, it already had a complete drive train
overhaul and paint job from early and mid 90s by the previous owner but was
only driven for less than 2500 miles after the engine job before the tranny
let go so he also had the tranny completely rebuild before putting the car
in storage under cover in anticipation of redoing the interior, something he
never got to. Since bringing the car to Phoenix, I have pulled out and
replaced the carpeting and both door panels. Everything was rust free and
also exceptionally straight. It has no identifiable body work beyond repair
of door dings before it was repainted.

The engine has new 9:5 compression Venolia (?) forged pistons, a new mid
level Crower cam and lifters that results in a modest lope at idle. It also
has a competition valve job with new triple springs and performance
retainers, a new oil pump and spring, a balanced assembly and all new rings
and bearings. I believe it also has the internal rear bearing oiler
installed under the intake as well. The intake is an AMC R4B with a Holley
650 and a Ford electronic ignition setup. It also has a Ford electronic
ignition setup which although not stock is way more reliable than the old
point and condenser setup. I have all the original intake, carb, ignition,
air cleaner and exhaust riser parts if anyone is a stickler about a pure
stock setup. I have receipts and machine shop specs for everything and also
have a disassembled 727 complete with flywheel, torque converter and shifter
cable that goes with the car.

The car has religiously been started and run over the years but driven less
than 200 miles during that time so I am sure it is has some carbon deposits
on the top of the pistons and around the valves. This is nothing that a
little driving and a couple tanks of good high detergent gas won't cure.
The previous owner also replaced trunnions, lower ball joints, tie rod ends
and all suspension rubber pieces. The brakes have a new master cylinder with
new calipers and pads in the front and the new pistons and shoes in the
rear.

Since I purchased the car last November I have done the following with the
associated costs of somewhere around $2500 - $3000:

- rechromed both bumpers and rear window trim chrome plated to show quality:
- purchased brand new matching saddle Legendary interior front door panels
and rear interior quarter panel pieces
- purchased matching and correct new Legendary leather seat covers
- new light saddle correct style carpet
- new door and trunk gaskets
- new window crank handles
- new auto shifter knob and button
- new ignition bezel
- new brake and emergency peddle rubbers
- NOS radio antenna
- new AMC logo insert below the rear window and new 390 quarter emblems
- new headlight J stainless pieces and new headlight surrounds
- new hood front trim piece
- new steering wheel horn insert
- new chrome door lock levers
- had the steering wheel repainted after having the cracks repaired, nice
job by Manny in Phoenix
- purchased NOS center cones for the original style 69 magnum 500 wheels
- purchased one NOS and two used 69 style magnum 500 wheels with trim rings
(I have not yet looked for the 4th original style wheel)
- purchased new correct window fuzzies from Legendary
- purchased new correct trunk decals inflator bottle wrapper and under hood
decals
- purchased new inflatable spare, inflator bottle, correct jack and j hook
hold down
- purchased new door sill plates (non-etched) although the originals are
probably recoverable with a lot of elbow grease
- purchased a new interior trim screw set
- purchased new lower center pod radio piece and numerous other odds and
ends that I can't remember at the moment.

I have installed all the new door, window and trunk gaskets, had Legendary
install the new fuzzies on the door panels and installed the door exterior
door window fuzzies. I also installed the new carpet, tuned up the engine
with new spark plugs, cap and rotor and changed the engine oil and filter.
Then shortly after getting things going, I got the new job and have been
traveling all over the country every week ever since.

What needs to still be done to the car is as follows:
- touch up and buff out the paint where needed (or strip and repaint the
whole car although I personally think it is not even close to being in need
of that)
- repair the small spot behind the passengers rear wheel and the dimple in
the lower rear valence and blend new paint on both
- install the new seat foam and leather upholstery
- install the new interior door and interior quarter panels pieces
- reinstall the original interior trim pieces that I removed to install the
carpet
- flush the brake fluid
- install the rechromed bumpers and new headlight surrounds, J trim pieces
and hood chrome
- install the new antennae, AMC square logo and 390 quarter emblems
- find the 4th 69 style magnum 500 and get new trim rings if you don't want
to use the 14 X 8 magnums that are on it.
- I would also suggest flushing the radiator and tranny and refilling both
with new juice as a preventative maintenance move.

This car is a strong runner and will easily grab a good hard second gear and
grab a good patch. The previous owner said he could easily bury the 140
speedo. All the AC components are there but it is not operational since the
engine rebuild. With complete reassembly, the car will be like new for
pretty short money. I would like to get the $8500 out of this car that I
have in it. If it was finished it would easily be a $12,000 car with the
existing paint job and most likely a $15,000 car with a new paint job. My
loss can be somebody's gain.

I do not need to sell it but if someone has more time than I do and wants a
really good AMX that will be an incredible AMX when done, please feel free
to contact me by email or by my cell phone listed below. I can take as many
high resolution digital pictures as someone would like before you make an
offer or come to see the car.
