I too say thanks for the kind words. I deleted the post without thinking, so I can't be more specific! OOPS! Getting old and we are back in the Overtime season, 25 hrs in, in two days so far this week. WOO HOO! I wanna go home! Anyway $1100 for a Pacer rear axle is a bit on the steep side to say the least! I'm sure one can be found much cheaper used. Plus is the noise a whine or a growl? If it is a growl it is most likely a bearing gone from sitting with moisture/condesation buildup causing rust pits in the bearing races. No way that is $1100 repair! A new gear set and bearigs shouldn't cost that much! If it is a whine pull the cover and take a look and see what is going on. You will likely find no sign of anything wrong or pitts in the ring face from condensation again. If all the bearings and gears look good it will operate for YEARS that way. If it is too loud for that then look for a used one. You should be succesful almost anywhere in the country if you take your time and don't get in a hurry. I know where one or two are and I haven't been in a yard in years! tell your friend to relax and enjoy his Pacer. If you don't get in a hurry you can find almost anything anymore.
