I plan on replacing the grill-mounted turn signals with driving
lights on my 70 Hornet. The opening is perfectly round, and a
separate aluminum cup bolted to the grille with #8 screws. On
the later Hornets the cups are slightly squared but it might
still work.

Couldn't have said it better! A lot of cars of that era have a lot of cluttery
detailing, yet the Hornets remained very clean.
