I forget his name, but the guy on the BullTear site has done a lot of research and field work on the nickle plated pumps. He and some field testers have been running the nickle plated pumps for a while -- exactly how long I forget. Cleaning of the aluminum is essential! They go through a multi-step process to thoroughly clean them first. As long as the pumps are clean the nickle plating will stay. I've never seen a nickle plated gun peel!
