The first gremlins (1970) were released in late 1969 they were 2 passenger, non functional rear window cars.they were aimed at the collage age people with no kids that needed a cheap AMERICAN made car. a mid year change (early 1970) replaced the non functional window with one that opened and put in a rear seat (mostly for insurance reasons, as an adult hardly fits) those first cars are as bought as rare as gremlins get except some of the camper additions (had a little roll out camper tent in the rear window) or the police addition with a 401 v8.some of the non rear seat cars were used by k9 cops.there was a rare option semi convertible sun top that slid back from the windshield to the rear wing mount. if you could lay your hands on one of those it would be worth the effort to restore it.
