Re: [gremlintime] Re: 500 cu.in Cadd-O-Grem 540 stroker

I actually prefer the guys at Maximum Torque Specialties:
www.mts.simplenet.com is the site
http://members.boardhost.com/BadCad/ is the BBS

My de Ville is ~4400-4500lbs. Talk about a barge.......

Advice: keep it under 5000RPM, unless you have WAY more money than you know what to do with (and if so, donations are gladly accepted). Mine has ~8.75:1 or 9:1 compression--I run 89-octane gas, but have to pull out some timing to do so. For highway driving, I compensate with a CRAPLOAD of vacuum advance (total is 55+ degrees at light-throttle cruise). Also, if you are doing much street driving (ie, want over 11MG), run EGR.

Not sure what your core is from, but if it's a pre-74, I suggest grabbing an HEI from a 1974 472, a 1974-76 500, or a 1977-79 425. I think you may need the pullies, too (I ran all my stock 425 accessories).

Thats a heck of a combo. Im going to use either the 7 inch olds rods
or the 6.735 inch olds rods in mine.
You say mid 12's in the Coup Deville? Thats probably a 4500-5000lb
car, so they say drop a second of your et for every 1000lbs of
weight. That would make a Gremlin(providing good traction) run
somewhere in the mid to upper 10's! On pump gas! John, you ever need
Caddy info, go to www.500cid.com Click on the largest Cad forum and
then go to the message board. Its filled with tons of info. Rod
