Re: [gremlintime] re ; Gremmie disc brakes

Vik, That sounds like the easiest hasslefree conversion one could hope for.
Did the Matador miss its Disc brakes or did the rest of it go to the great
Matador afterlife?
So now you have everbody looking for 1975 Matadors. I'm not an AMC owner as
yet but there is a Gremlin in my future, I even have a spot saved in front of
the house right between the Vega and the Pinto! My Pinto disc brake
conversion is proving to be as straight forward as the 302 engine swap. But;
like my brake instructor told us all years ago: "If your car don't start
youaints got no problem! Its when your car don't stop that you gots a
problem!!!!!!!!!!" Truer words were never spoken. I think that my Pinto
survived the flaming fuel tank death because as a drum brake car it couldn't
stop fast enough to get rear ended! The disc brakes for the pinto swap came
from a 1976 Ford Torino sedan. As I installed new KYB shocks and 15x7
Fittapaldi wheels already without any fender clearance issues the bigger
discs will work just fine (albeight I now have a 5-lug front end).
Glad that you had such a straight forward conversion and were willing to
share the info.
Thanks,
DANA
