Hopefully this won't look too tacky. When I owned my 74 Gremlin > (25+ years ago) I cut out the lighter/ash try and mounted an underdash > FM/cassette unit, with a power amp and put speakers in the door. I would like to be able to mount a unit to the floor by the ash tray except I have a shelf there. I do remember seeing one car with a shelf that had the reciever suspended from under the glove box, but that's a long reach. I have also heard of equipment that is hidden, controlled by remote control.
