If you ground out the wires that lead to the sending units while you have the ignition in the accesory position, if the gauges themselves are good they should peg out to full and high temperature. If they peg out, its the sending units, or in the case of the fuel sending unit, it could be the float has a leak. If they don't respond to the grounding, it could be the gauge. I don't know if the gremlins have a constant voltage regulator like my 64 tbird, but that could be another source of faulty gauges. Good luck. Anyone have any experience with this? Is there a good schematic that I can use to figure out the wiring without getting confused? Furthermore, are there aftermarket guages that will fit in the dash of a '76 258? When I mean aftermarket, I mean either by another manufacturer, or one out of a jeep. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm tired of running out of gas.
