Subaru engine into Gremlin might be possible...

 Well, I got the engine out of the Subaru on Sunday, and got rid of the 
(car)cass Monday. I looked at the motor, and then the engine compartment of 
the '76 Gremlin. Hmm...I took some measurements, the width is about 33 inches 
in the compartment, and the engine is about 28 wide. I measured the engine 
mount pad width ( 16 inches roughly ), and then the Subaru mounts ( 14-15 
roughly ). Hey, this actually looks doable! Theyre even about the same angle. 
I had cut a 2x6 into a 33 inch wide board to rest on the sub-frame raills of 
the '76, I need to store the Subaru engine somewhere, and am going to do it 
underneath the hood of the '76 as it's a storage compartment now anyway at 
the moment. and it will be out of my way in the garage that way. :) I don't 
have the time or skills at the moment to try to seriously mount the motor , 
but at least it does look feasible without too much work, which is 
surprising. Not sure how much power those 22R 'Ru engines put out, but has to 
be more than the old Audi or GM 4-bangers that were used. All I need now is a 
Subaru trans, probably an automatic so I don't have to rig alot of extra 
hardware, and it could be possible to "upgrade" an old tired Kammie into a 
more modern-powered car. Interesting...but not happening anytime soon! I have 
neough projects on my plate at the moment, with the '74 Gremlin and the '78 
GT taking my money and time for now with needed repairs to get them running 
and driveable. So by the end of the month, I hope to have two driveable 
Gremlins available. Looks like the Pacer will sit awhile now, I need to put 
the carb back on it, but otherwise, I'm not spending a dime to repair it at 
the moment. Things at work don't look good, not sure how long the company can 
keep going if we don't sell much, so I need to start saving some dimes up to 
prepare for the worst if a shutdown happens. Hopefully I won't have to 
abandon any cars ( or the house! ), I'm keeping my fingers crossed that 
business will pick up. So, enough of the biz report, time to put the legal 
plates on the GT before I go to work, then head off knowing I have gotten my 
head above water on the legal issues with the county on the cars and shed. 
Woo-hoo! Take THAT, neighbor! You're next, with your peeling paint on your 
car port...LOL!
