Mark, I don't know how to tell what year your 401 is, but there is only one difference that matters. Is it a 71-73 or is it 74 and newer. The 74 and newer have the less desirable heads with bridged rocker arms. These heads still have the big valves and breathe just as well as the early ones, they just don't hold up to higher rpms because of the weak aluminum bridges. There are ways around this such as machining them for individual rockers or by buying the roller rocker kit from American Performance Products in Fla. This kit is supposed to replace the bridged set-up without any machining. I have not used this kit and I do not know anyone personally that has but I would love to hear from someone who has. Hope this helps Brian Dyba ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Kreutter To: gremlintime@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, March 05, 2001 12:29 AM Subject: [gremlintime] Can anyone give me some help on identifying what year my 401 is?
