Dear Jerry The front of my gremlin has been converted to leaf springs also. The strut towers were cut out and sheet metal was welded into its place . You really have to take a double take because the seams were smoothed over with bondo and painted the engine compartment flat black . It lookes like the strut towers never existed. Where the leaf springs bolt up, that is where the steel blocks were welded to the frame to give it the lift it needed. You will probably want to take out a leaf or two. Mine has 6 leafs all around. The motor mounts or frame mounts were welded on using cherokee mounts. You will need to have drive shafts made, but if you know anything about welding, its no big deal. The hole on the floor for the shifter will have to be made bigger to alow the room for the transfer case to fit underneath. And a custom tranny mount will have to be made. I have 31 inch tires on it now and it looks perfect, although i have had 33 .10.5 on before. The person who did the conversion to mine did a lot of homework but it really turned out right. ----------------------------------------------------- Click here for Free Video!! http://www.gohip.com/freevideo/ ----- Original Message ----- From: <TheVWman1@xxxx> To: <gremlintime@xxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, October 25, 2000 6:22 PM Subject: Re: [gremlintime] Re: Gremlin/Jeep conversion onto CJ-5... > Could you send me some more info on your swap Mike?
