Potomac show, more garage recycleables, new "Gremlin"....

Gee, things have been dead on the Gremlin List for awhile! Not much going
on out there, I take it. Anyway, thought I'd drop off 2 cents while I had
some time.
My local show went well this past Saturday - unfortunately, not a single
Gremlin showed up! I had the only Pacer there, and attendance was lower
than last year, at 30 compared to 42. I attribute that to the fact that
Cecil County II is this weekend, and long distance people weren't gonna do
our show when All-AMC day is the next weekend. Unfortunate, but that's the
way it goes. We had more Matadors this year, two coupes as well, an SC/360,
two Classic convertibles, and the usual Javelin/AMX cars. Weather was cool
and windy, but mostly sunny, it was great. I took two rolls of film, had to
return one as they double-printed one set, and didn't print but 6 of the
other. Oh well, minor detail. My girlfriend sold 11 flyswatters crafted
with the AMC flag and either AMC or AMX lettering stitched on them.
Hopefully she'll sell even more at Cecil next weekend! I tried to get her
to do a Gremlin, but she thinks it won't look right with the hole
spacing...I just may have to do one myself. :)
I acquired a new Gremlin off of Ebay...a 1/32nd slot car made by Parma,
it's a modified dirt track type of car. The thing is near mint, in the box,
I paid $51 for it ( ouch! ), but it'll look nice in my collection. It's
black with gold accents. Neat car!
I"ve been slackin' on doing more in the garage lately, but have got the
workbench area cleaned out enough to be serviceable. Got the front spindle
in the vice now to try to get it apart enough to install it on the Gremlin
in the driveway. Need to find my breaker bar...
Found a few new items to recycle as useable containers. I cut off the
front / top part of a large plastic cat foor container with handle, to
store small parts in, and found out the resulting leftover makes a great
disposable dust pan, with the hole at the top, it could be used also as a
wide-mouthed funnel. I acquired another 4" diameter plastic tube ( from
commercial window tint rolls) I"m going to make a table base column out of
it, and put Xmas lights inside, for a neat effect. I brought back several
round table bases with beat-up brass columns from storage at my aunt's
farm, and figured I'd convert or restore them for use at my place. Just
need some round table tops to use on them now.
I've been saving some of my company's throwaway plastic organizer trays,
they hold small electronic parts separate in shipment, just sort of cheap
vac-formed things, but they can work great to sort small parts, screws,
sewing items, etc. I'm also trying to figure out how to use the IC
transport tubes as diecast car blisterpack display guides, I'm too cheap to
pay $20 each for those Hotwheels display frames that have 5 columns for the
BP's to slide into. The tubes are free. :) A winter project.
The house is doing well, just had a few minor plumbing jobs to fix, unclog
some sink drains, but otherwise most projects are on hold as I've been lazy
of late. Just enjoying what I've worked so hard for. :) The cats are
flea-bitten, gotta do something about that, the new cat of my girlfriend's
son we got a few months ago brought them in. The basement is
loaded...luckilly it's getting colder, so they'll start dying/hibernating,
and we can get some peace to clean up. Darn bugs!!!!
Anyway, hope everyone's summer is going as well as mine is. See ya!

Th' Gremlins are dusty from sitting...
