Went fishing today, "caught" 13 Marlins...on film in one place!

We ( the Wash. DC area Potomac Ramblers club ) had heard about a
gentleman near Fredericksburg, VA who had a huge collection of
fish...Marlins. We had our club meeing there today, he runs a used car
dealership on Rt. 1 near Thornburg, address 8305 Jefferson Davis Hwy. Anyway,
we all got there about noon, and proceed behind his fence to the woods
beyond...wow! Never seen so many Marlins in one place, except at a
dealership, before my time, though ( ahem! ). Red ones, white ones, black
ones, blue ones, all packed together somewhat. I can't say that I remember
counting 13, though, he may have had some elsewhere , but there were at least
8 at that spot. He had some other interesting cars too, a '59 camino parts
car, 54 Desoto 4-dr sedan being converted to a convertible ( had the top
assbly welded in place, the steel top still sitting on top as well ). An
Edsel, an '80s diesel Olds wagon. A few caddy's from the '60s. The Marlins
were the main attraction though. Some or most are probably parts cars only,
but most were complete. He's been collecting them for years, and is willing
to sell parts. One guy bought the center console out of one of them while
there. He has mostly 65-66's, with a lone '67 with 327 / 4-spd. His name is
Kenny Haddock, and his phone # is (540) 898-5657 . Hate to see them Fish
spoil, maybe someone can save or salvage one or more of these cars for the
future. I was thinking, while looking at one, how it might make a cool custom
car by cutting the roof off down the roof trim line on either side, all the
way back to the trunk. Would make a neat looking open-air cruiser. Make some
"jump" seats for the trunk area, maybe. Ah, what a dreamer I am! I'm an idea
man, though, maybe one of these days, I can take a course in welding, and
actually make one of them happen! Still dreaming about a Gremlin Openfire or
Woodie Gremlin conversion. :) Well, enough fantasy for one weekend, back to
work tomorrow, and doing more hoop-jumping courtesy of the neighobrs
complaints and the county inspector leaving a note on Friday. Can't wait
until I get a chance to make those 5-foot high fluorescent Gremlins to nail
to my new gates across the driveway. >:)
