Oils have gotten better esp. With the invention of synthetics. It used to be recommended to change every 3 months because the natural properties in oil break down over time and loose the lubricious properties. Also engines have improved vastly. Aluminum blocks and heads dissipate heat better and better bearings and also the use of roller cams with roller lifters do not require the harsher chemicals that used to be in oil to help lubricate. Just my rumblings. D Sent from Yahoo! Mail for iPhone |
Ive wondered about oil too. Has it gotten better or are engines less hard on it? Used to be 3k but my new cars are 5 to 7k recommended changes Sent via the Samsung GALAXY S™4, an AT&T 4G LTE smartphone -------- Original message -------- From: Billy Strength <strengthb@xxxxxxxxx> Date: 05/21/2013 5:40 AM (GMT-08:00) To: BaadAssGremlins@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Things have been dead on here. I change my oil every 3000 miles. Even if it is 6 days or 60 months. They say oil will take much time to go away when it was dumped on the ground but the people that make profit off of oil sales say to change your oil every 3 months. why will it last when dumped on ground but needs to be changed every 3 months in an engine? I have been operating cars a very long time and have I yet to have one ruin because I did not change it every 3 months.B Strength From: Terry Atkins <twa1950@xxxxxxxxx> To: BaadAssGremlins@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, May 19, 2013 8:18 PM Subject: [BaadAssGremlins] Things have been dead on here.
