I've used these mounts 3x and no issues. One of them was a 1966 or 1967 I6-to-V8 conversion. I'd recommend these.

There are a number of other specialty parts retailers that also market similar conversions. Most you will find on sites meant for Jeeps, so Jeep forums will also be full of helpful hints and recommendations.

Both the crossmember and the rear axle are too wide for the American. Americans had their rear axle housing width. Crossmember from any small body V 8 would work. Or modify the existing mounts to work with a V 8. I think someone makes a kit for the mounts.
