Just an FYI if your only making 500 hp there is no need for a slick wider than 9". The only reason would be for te cool factor. My gremlin has used 28x9 Mickey Thompsons and 28x10.5 Hoosiers and they fit the stock body. While it's not a hornet they should be similar. The Niger the tire the more hp it takes to turn it also. Hi
Eddie,
Question, I have a
77 Hornet AMX, will a 15x10" rim with 5.5 " backspacing fit on the Hornet
without getting into the fender wells. I have a 500hp 70 390 in it
and need more tire on the ground.
I believe the tread
width is in the 11 to 12" range. I had a 69 AMX with 10" rims but
the backspacing was around 3.5" and the outer edge of the tire would rub the lip
of the fender well when I
hit a bump in the
road. I installed air shocks to fix that problem (rough ride but no
rub!)
Thanks,
Dustin
