Well last weekend I final got the Gremlin painted, and I think it looks great. I painted it back in April and didn't like the results so I contacted a friend of mined, Wayne, and ask for his help. Wanye has painted a lot of cars in his days. After looking it over we decided that the best course of action would be to sand it down and start over, which is what we did. With Wayne's help, we started at 6:00 AM on Saturday and put on 3 coats of base color, one coat of a White Pearl over the base followed by 2 coats of clear. We were done around 11:00 AM just before it started getting hot. Sunday morning Wayne came over and got me started on doing the color sanding and buffing. After he left I spend the next 6 hour that day sanding and buffing and about another 6 hours on
Monday. The paint is not perfect but for being painted in my garage, I think it looks great. For those of you that really know your Gremlin you will notice that I filled in the body seams on the rear panel and were the quarter panel and rocker panel meet, I also filled in the rear side marker light. Now I can start reassembling the car.
