It depends on what year the car is. Early 73 and older had a lift strut that bolted to the body and hatch. Those are nearly impossible to find. Mid 73 and new had a lift strut that had a ball on each end. The early model can be converted to later model struts. On later model cars Gremlin ,Spirit, Concord, SX4 , eagle wagons, Two of the balls were screwed in to the hatch. These balls have a stud the same size as the bolt holding on the early model lift. You need to get 4 balls from 2 cars. Take the standard Spirit lift and measure [add lenght] to the opening you want. When ordering the lift get at least 70 lbs.
