Re: [BaadAssGremlins] door glass

That what I was thinking. Well some time in the last 32 years mine has all come off. If that was the worst of my problems I would be in great shape.

Another question. Did AMC spray the inside of the doors with some kind of undercoat or something. I am not sure if the drivers door had it or not but the bottom of the passenger door is full of what looks like paint chips to me. They are about 2 inches by 2 inches and are flat on one side and textured on the other side. Just wondering if they sprayed the door when the were making them and after 30 years it just fell off.

I decided to take my door panels off to see if I could see what broke the glass and then vacuum out all the glass in the door. I took the passenger side off so I could compare the two. The first thing I found was the fastener toward the front, the hex screw was completely out. Don't know if that happen before or after the glass broke. Just looking at it I think it came out before. The plastic is all messed up but I think I can rig something up for that. When I started vacuuming the glass I found a piece of metal in the door. It turned out to be the bottom half of the channel in the door. The channel toward the rear of the car is in two pieces. It slides into the the top channel and has a bracket that is bolted onto the door where the latch is. There should just be a hole drilled into the door but mine almost looks like it was a punch out plug with a hole in it. Anyway that gave way and the bottom half of the track fell. I think that piece is where all my noise was coming from. I think I can just put the track back up there and get me a big flat washer and take care of it. I sure wish I would have taken the door panel off before the glass broke. Oh well at least I found some problems I was wondering if I put a new glass in there what would keep it from breaking. Now all I need is the glass.
