I was just thinking the same thing ! Its the chevy part that I cant appreciate' Theres no pain involved -just pick up the phone and order any part you need. I do have a 5.0 ho out of a 93 T bird and other than small ports its neat. Short stroke and light. Could go for that.--- On Mon, 4/25/11, backThatThingUp YoYoYo <backthatthingupyoyoyo@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:

There's nothing wrong with some off-brand motor-vation between the wheel wells... GM did it for years. The SBC is a great little motor. Sure, it's not stock, but I wouldn't put a stock motor in a (toy) car anyway.Anyone out there ever thought about a 5.0 Ford in a Gremlin? Probably just one more way to start a hate email thread...!And I'd like to see someone turn a Grem into an electric!I used to work w/a guy who had a small jet engine in a golfcart... I think he eventually planned to put it in a car.

Dale, DO IT YOUR WAY.....I don't bring up the SBC issue here anymore either. Learned my lesson. This is your car, as long as you saved another AMC from the crusher, don't worry about what others think. Even the AMO club (largest AMC club in North America) now has a judged class for our cars with other engines. I still have one of my Gremmies with the sbc and a muncie 4-speed in it. And you know what, IT'S MORE FUN THAN MY 'STOCK' GREMLIN. Because I can beat on it and know I can fix it with parts from any Autozone or Reilly's in a matter of hours not weeks and not have to mortage my house. As to your origian ? about the headers, I custom made my own. Tried buying a set for an S-10 from JC Whitney, but couldn't get them to fit w/out major mods. Gary 'TheMix'

This car had a sbc put in it 20 years ago after being saved from the crusher. I forgot what I used at that time. Now they are worn out I should have know better than to ask.

I love seeing traditional hot rods with motors like a "Nailhead Buick" or a "394 cubed Olds" and sure you pay more for parts and having it rebuilt but its much more satisfying in the end either blowing the doors off or outshining some belly button ass "tree fiddy" swapped set of wheels.
