Hi Larry, yes, there are 3 known to still exist, I need to update that file on my site, and am updating a mess of files on my site, just finished the SC/360 Registry for instance (was 14 hours!). The fellow who owns the Wnek Matador Machine http://www.planethoustonamx.com/stuff/matador_machine.htm that Brad restored, and changed to red after rotisserie years ago, not only does he own the cars Larry mentions down below, but also James Garner's Baja 4x4 Hurst SC/Rambler; http://www.planethoustonamx.com/press_photos/baja_scrambler1.jpg http://www.planethoustonamx.com/press_photos/baja_scrambler2.jpg (mentioned), a few years ago bought the Bonanza SS/AMX (the one that appeared in the CHiPs series with Ponch & Jon) http://www.planethoustonamx.com/amx_photos/69_ssamx_bonanza_garage.jpg this is the Vignale many AMCers call the AMX 1 http://www.planethoustonamx.com/press_photos/66amx_1_color.jpg and the prototype AMX/2 http://www.planethoustonamx.com/press_photos/amx_2.jpg which for many years, was stuck on top of a pole at a used car dealership in PA. Interesting story there, I believe I have some photos of that on my site, but if anyone wants to see it perched way up in air at Cal Worthington & his dog Spot (or whatever cheesy old car used car lot it was) email me. Back to Matador Machines......you could still get a 2 door sedan Matador with 360 or 401 in 1972, but no mention of the 'Machine' package. Something I have never seen is the NASCAR Matador package from 1973 though. AMC used to give out big decal sets at major NASCAR events so people could slap on their 71-73 Matador 2 doors. I have never seen it. Know it exists, but just never seen it! Sort of like those big Trans Am Javelin fiberglass scoops AMC passed out at big events in late 68 and then 69 for Javelin. Some of those still remain, had a chance to buy a NOS one about 10 years ago, big, bulky thing. http://www.planethoustonamx.com/Photo_Gallery_press/magazinead1.jpg I believe I still has set of NOS instructions to install one here, not that I would want a scoop the size of Pacer passenger door on my 68-69 Javelin hood, but that is what AMC was using in Trans Am racing, Eddie Stakes 713.464.8825 eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.planethoustonamx.com ===================== Larry From The Desert Mentioned: "Pat Wnek sold his Matador Machine many years ago. It wound up on the East coast under going a complete redo as it needed a new floor. The car cost a fortune to redo and wound up in Canada painted RED in the collection of the very wealth man who has an AMX3, the 4WD 1969 Sc/Rambler and who is redoing the 1966 Vignale AMX. His Matador Machine was in a copy of Hemmings Muscle cars a year plus ago. Interestingly all these rare AMCs are his daily drivers to save ware and tear on his storage buildings full of Million dollar Ferraris and Lambos. Terry Gale at the rambler ranch may have another 71 Matador Machine, an automatic so there many be 3. LRDaum" ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
