Those prices were based on a V8 Hornet. Being a 6cyl the value will be lower

I would think those prices are right. If is good shape. Interior decent. Body no rust or dents. Runs and drives decent with no major problems the $2500 sounds like it would be more than fair for it. Now if it is in show room condition with no problems at all and the paint is bright and shiny with few or any faults if he was very lucky he might get the $4000. Now if you see that it is decent but is going to need some work on it the 1000 to 1500 would be more like it. Now if the guy wants 10,000 for it run like hell and if he want $500 ask him what is wrong with it.

Thanks Eddie & Henry. I did check out a couple of the links - it looks like this car will sell for $1000 - $2500, stock as it is, maybe more? I really don't NEED this car, but I am going to have a hard time passing up such a nice 1-owner well kept AMC. Every had that problem? LOL! ~Lu~

Right now in last several years prices suck and I am getting hammered with 'sympathy buys' for instance, those are folks who have lost jobs, or mortgage/homes, ect, and well, need money so selling off toys, and sometimes those toys are AMCs, so while i have been buying some good cars cheap (cheaper than what they were worth 5 or so years ago) still lots of good stuff out there.

He is getting old (with health issues) and is considering selling his Hornet.. He told me he bought it new in 1976 and has kept it running the whole time. He has had it repainted once (original color) and has just put new tires on it. He said it has electrical problems (headlights won't stay on), but otherwise it runs great. Body is perfect - no rust, original everything. I am thinking of adding another AMC to my small fleet. But if not, I want to help the guy get what he deserves for this very nice original AMC. What does a car like this go for? I plan on looking on the Bay, but I really don't know if that is a good reference. What do you all think?
