Sorry to hear about your loss Bart.  Its really hard to deal with serial losses like that. 
I became the patriarch of my family at 46 after losing every aunt , uncle, parent and grandparent on both sides.
It sounds like you were close and so try and think about all the good memories and honor his life in that regard.
