I got historic tags on mine. I know they don't care. The value of mine I think is way less than $200 and I pay less then a $1.00 a year in taxes. The tags are permanent so after you first buy them you never pay for them again.

Mine (in Nebraska) are the same way. 1971 Gremlin, 1973 Gremlin, 1981 SX/4, 1982 SX/4 are all just listed as "AMC" and "2-door sedan" I think that the DMV just doesn't care on these older cars because the model doesn't change the taxes or license fees.

I am kind of surprised that there isnt a way to do a "census" through a federal data base of DMV records.  I cant imagine that the systems arent linked for law enforcement use (fbi).
Anyone got an inside connection?? ?
