Hi Doc, Regarding the "Green" people...If they had done their research they would find it is actually more green to restore and existing car rather than buying a new one. I had an environmental science class in college and the message was basically we need to stop making big cars and start building small cars that have less emissions and also how we need to do away with the old vehicles. The instructor said that it took thousands of gallons of water to create one new car and also mentioned all the toxic polymers that go into a vehicle plus the use of natural resources that we are depleting from the earth when a new car is built. I raised my hand and said, if that is the case restoring an existing car would take less materials and water; it also create less toxic waste. I got no response. So what if the car manufacturers took existing cars and retrofitted them with new technology? We would save resources, people would get to drive stylish cars with all the modern amenities. The cost would be far less for the car companies because there are no raw materials to mine out of the earth. Also the value of used cars would go up because they would be bought back by the manufacturer for restoration. This also may equalize the car to person ratio so we don't have a lot of unwanted new cars sitting on a lot someplace. Just thinking out loud...should I write to Chrysler? --- On Thu, 11/20/08, Mr. AMC <AMC74HORNET@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Mr. AMC <AMC74HORNET@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [BaadAssGremlins] The Monday Rant No Friday!!! PEG I'M BLIND!!!!!. In a 10 minute period I saw one of those roller-skate Smart Cars and a Troyjota Pries this afternoon. The yuppie tree hugger wasn't to pleased when I pulled up next to him and couldn't stop laughing. What an unsafe ugly POS. The Pries was driven by a 70+ year old man and apparently his wife. Why buy one of those now when you probably drove a gas guzzler Caddy most of your life just to show you are now what is called "GREEN". Hell I didn't know it but I was and still am "Green" driving my one Hornet for it's going to be 35 years in Feb and the other one for 5 years last Oct. Comfortable, roomy, nice driving and handling cars that have some style to them even today versus the cookie cutter Ricers and American Ricer clones. The rant is over.
