Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Alternator rattle noise

I found an alternator mount that goes on the pasenger side. I had to do this when I switched over to a Delco single wire set up and larger amp alternator. It is often the ac compressor mount also or I think a chevy bracket will work(not sure which)

Hi Everyone –

I’ve got kind of a strange one here and thought that maybe someone else has seen it before.

Over the last few days there’s been a strange noise coming from under the hood of my ’74 Gremlin – kind of a banging which is most common when in gear and idling.

Today I finally found out what it is and somehow, the alternator is banging against the power steering gearbox.

I’ve got a 258 that is running a little rough, so the engine is a bit wobbly, but I can’t figure out why it’s just started doing this.  The alternator doesn’t seem to be loose or anything.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them before?  If so, what was the remedy?

Thanks!

Tim
