[BaadAssGremlins] Show time

Hello guys It's been a looong time since I've posted, but read your banter every day. .  Any how, my computer nerd kid turned into a car guy recently. Just  like a light came on. He took the Gremmie to a car show last week. 400 cars there. This is the motor city. Mostly muscle and rods, and the biggest crowd most of the day was around his (our 74) Grem. Everyone wanted pictures with it and the next day when he checked the forums there were tons of pictures on the web. He couldn't believe it. You can lead a kid to the garage, but ya can't make em appreciate untill they think it's their idea. Also hello to Rick and Davis I hope every thing turns out OK. Hancock in Detroit

Yea the two seat fix window 70 would be a find. That four banger has to rank up there though.  Of course a Gremlin of any kind is pretty rare. Was at a show Friday night and the guys that put on the show said that at a show at a small town about 30 miles south of me there were two Gremlins. Might have been I have been told there are others out there. I just haven't seen them in the last 11 years I have been going to shows. If I see them I guess I will have to break down and get the paint job and the seat fix. I have been thinking and looking for a pair of buckets seats for years but this year I have had 4 or 5 people comment about the bench seat. Think I will keep it.

That's great to have another gremlin saved. I bet you will get good mileage.
As for one of the rareist... the 76 v-8 gremlin would be the rareist next to the 2 seater fixed back window 70.

Just wanted to give the group an update on the 4 cyl 1978 Gremlin I
brought home a couple of months ago. Its been a little while since I
posted. The car hadn't been operated since 2000, but within a couple
of weeks of bring it home we had it running. Replaced the water pump
and smog pump, had the gas tank cleaned and it was ready to hit the
road...almost. We drove it around the neighborhood, and it did
pretty well, but we left a trail of transmission fluid everywhere we
went. Since I couldn't drive it across town for its VIN inspection
like that, I used a tow dolly, with the plan to take it to the
transmission shop right after the inspection. Made the 35 mile drive
across town, passed inspection, and went to the transmission shop.
Tranny was in such bad shape it wouldn't even back off the tow
dolly. It needed a full rebuild, but it's running great now. I have
had to deal with some of the oddities of the 4 cyl engine (coolant
hoses and temp sending units that are no longer available) but so far
have managed to piece together everything I've needed. As soon as it
passes inspection I'll be willing to do some of the other work
needed, like new carpet, fix fender, etc.

It's actually a pretty nice car with power steering and power brakes,
but has no power going uphill. Bart's equating it with a sewing
machine when I first got it was pretty accurate! But its one more
Gremlin on the road!

1972 Gremlin X 304
1978 Gremlin 121 4 cyl
1981 Kammback 258 - will be running soon!
