I just noticed the 106 cl on your cam and that is one place where he may be wrong[just a thought] 112 is not so good for cyl. pressure?

I have been doing amc's for close to 25 years now. My previous build was a stock 140k mile  360 with ported heads, .236 dur @ .050 106 cl and .540 lift a 4K stall verter, 4.56's,  and it ran 12.6 @ 107. After 6 runs I decided 12's were cool but I wanted 10's. So now my pump gas street motor makes over 530 HP I have to fix the rear suspension now to take the abuse.
With a gear like yours I assume your 1/8th mile.

I admit the compression is low and the 112 degrees dont help but if a engine starts to pull hard at 3500 rpms and the converter stalls at 2500 rpm [and thats giving the benefit of the doubt, most dont stall as high as rated !]you either go less cam or more stall or drive a dog!
The Gremlin I drive has a 5000 stall and a low compression 360 with a lot milder cam and it flat leaves but runs out of breath quick with 5:38 gears. We will be changing cams in the next day or so and heads as well to get at least 6500 rpm out of it.How long have you been doing AMCs?

More stall would require more cam and more compression.

112 cl may run better advanced a couple of degrees?Noise worries me ,was cam broke in properly?Does converter stall at rated RPM?I still think needs more stall to leave hard.I like a little stiffer gear ratio with a low stall speed.

Well baised on your cam and compression your converter is good. Sounds like you have a carb issue. The cam on the accelerator needs to be changed and possibly bigger squirters. Hard to guess not being there.

Its a mild lenati voodoo cam which is a 64501 standar base circle 484 intake lift 507 lift on exhaust: Duration 213.050 on intake. Duration on exhast is 220.050.  Lobe separation 112. Cam installed 0 strait up.  Has Headers has a EDL performer rpm air intake.    The car has a quick fuel 650 double pumper (similar to holley just shiny and has glass ports to see fuel.  It has a 2500 stall converter on the 1972 727 tranny.  Its a dog out of the hole even if you power brake but comes alive at 3000 to 3500 rpms.    I also ended up with a stranger problem.  when I first got this new motor back it made a metal to metal lifter noise (lifter not pumping up tappin noise) at first it  only did this in initial start. Now it does it when ever I start motor.  unless I just hsut it of and start it back up.  They said the reason It does this is the cam oling system they put in it bleedes down and has to pump up.  I have a bulltear oil pump plate that blocks the return bypass up.  Is that really usefull or is it causing  this probelm.  It has a TDK v8 oil kit for timing chain. a MDK oil kit for main bearings. The motor is a 360 from 1970.Rebuilt  It has 8.05 to one compression.   4.110 boar.  Stainlees steel valves.   Has a suplimental oiling kit according to  engine build ticket.
