Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Gremlin hatch glass - defrost rarity, glass-mount antenna base ( CB ? )...

Cool,
I am glad there are still junkyards out there with older stuff.
I just visited one a couple weeks ago. I did find a very complete Matador coupe as well as afew '77 and '78 Gremmys. I also spotted a Marlin that looked like someones project gone bad. There were some Eagles and a Kammback. I also found several Gremmy and Hornet doors. I also spotted several Pacers, one was a wagon. I plan on going back this spring, since there was a foot and a half of snow. That was before we got another 18 inches of snow

Hey, long time no post for me. Just haven't had much to say in
awhile. lol. Anyway, I visited a friend up in Acme, PA Dec. 31st, and
visited a yard there, had two Gremlins, one had a 2nd hatch glass in
the back seat, with defrost option, AND had an antenna mount on the
top center of the glass. I have no idea if that was stock or not, any
ideas? My GT has a CB option, but I think it used the regular radio
antenna. Anyway, it has all the stainless trim, they wanted $50 for
the whole thing, so I bought it. First time I've seen a rear defrost
option in Gremlin glass.

I think the car was a '75 or '76, not sure. The other Gremlin was a
plain-jane'er, had the roof split open lengthwise, not many
accessories on the car. Good left fender, though. Didn't check out the
right side. I will be going back, and will probably get the 2nd hatch
glass as well, as I've heard people needing the stainless on them. Is
$50 a decent price for the glass? I guess if you need it, it is. :)

Had quite a few Eagles there, including TWO Kammback sedans, one with
the roof partially cut off in back. One maroon, one cream white. Both
had cracked rear round AMC side marker lights, they must all do that.
Good shape otherwise. Too bad. I was hoping to find a good pair. Oh
well. Other AMC-related cars were several old '50's Hudsons and
Nashes, I found 2 of the '50 Nashes with Uniscope pods. I WANT those
pods! There's actually one on Ebay for sale now, minus back shell.
Neat pods, I was thinkin' a custom Gremlin tach and gauges. :) There
was a '48 suicide door Nash, a couple Kaiser 4-door sedans, a
Studebaker Starliner, '47 Pontiac, '48 Chevy, Ford coupe with a
flat-head V-8,and a few other old ones in one corner of the yard. I
didn't get to see the whole yard, as I got up there late due to black
ice in Maryland and a 2-hour traffic accident delay that I had to wait
for, as vehicles were overturning everywhere at 5 AM. But a few hours
at the yard are better than nothing! I intend to go back for more -
they also had a Matador Coupe, black, nice paint, someone had already
cut out the front axles since my friend had been there last, but
otherwise mostly complete. They want $600 for the whole car. NICE
shape, too. Better than mine, probably. Hope we can save it.

Well, starting off the New year sick, although I DID avoid flu and
cold bugs all last fall, which is a miracle. I can stand one now.

So, Happy New year, you BaadAsses, hope to be cruisin' in a Gremlin
this year, no matter what! Sick of having them sit idle and not
running. Time to get moving!
