You can do lot's to them just like the old slant six. I know when I was in Niagara falls a guy had a Gremlin 258 with the 4 barrel on the side but what he used I do not know.

Hey people,
I am looking for some parts source for my 258 rebuild(I know it isn't a
V8 , but when I'm done she'll run with most). I need a harmonic
balancer, Heavy duty clutch set-up, cam set-up for now. I am awaiting
reply from clifford but am looking for any other sources.

they have a 'Roller Camshaft' thing going on
at the moment - might want to get in on it.

you can strip out an '88 or '89 Cherokee 4.0
and have EFi for some better ponies & mileage,
use a '99 Intake manifold.

the cyl. head you want is off a 1993 4.0 -
lots of Factory flow work done - ports are raised
for straight shot at valves - use the '88-'89
4.0 stainless exhaust header - Borla one is on eBay
at times.

most all the parts can be found with someone on
strokers. they can fill you in on the detils.
