Hi Terry The EPA has changed the way MPG is tested several times over the years in order to get a more real world figure (lower). The car companies do everything they can to get the highest number possible. You could get 26 mpg - as long as you only drive on flat ground with new pavement on days with no wind and proper temperature and humidity. Oh, and dont forget 0-50 in the minutes not seconds! Technology has allowed the mpg and horsepower to go up some, but my 2002 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L still only gets me 16-18mpg freeway (OK, its over the Altamont Pass but still...) One other thing to keep in perspective is that if you allow for inflation then even at 3.00/gal you are still paying less to travel in 2007 @ 18 mpg than in 1976 @ 24 Tom Yahoo!
