Back in the days when I used to do it. That is what I did pulled the transmission out with the engine. My daddy always said that is the only way to do it. God I miss him and my brother when it comes to working on cars. I guess that is why I don't do a whole lot of mechanic work anymore.

Also I usally pull the engine n tranny together. Much easier. Unless
you have a v-8 with milodon pan then that's another story.
