Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: Fuel Pump Question UPDATE

Agreed, and I forgot to mention the little sock also, most of them outlived their usefulness 15-20 years ago. I run all mine without one. Be sure when tank is off don't be a Aggie and look inside it with lighter. But in the "S" shaped tube, you might want to get some good pipe cleaners (for smoking pipes, not water pipes) and clean it out. Sometimes if buildup I have used coathanger straightend out as far as it will go, but it takes out the buildup.

It's been mentioned here before.......

Inside the fuel tank, there is a "sock" on the end of the take-up line. Over the years it becomes clogged and can restrict fuel flow. If the fuel is sloshing around, it may cause intermittent restrictions on the fuel flow. It's not any easy task, but drop the fuel tank, remove the sending unit and pull the "sock" off. Don't worry about replacing it, just put an in-line filter between the tank and the fuel pump.

Good luck!

Rick
