I was at a car show Friday night and got two offers for my Gremlin. An older guy wanted to buy it before I got it parked. He said he bought a new one years ago and told me to name my price. I said it wasn't for sale it was my mothers and we had it since it was almost new. He said he wouldn't sale it either if he was me. Then I had a
young couple in their mid 20's come up to me and the girl went wild over it. Said she had seen pictures of them and seen them on TV in ads and she just loved them. About 30 minutes the guy came back with something in his hand. He said he saw the new car sticker on it for $3800. He had his check book in his hand and wanted to write me out a check for $4,000 said he would have the cash Monday. I told him the same story I told the other guy. He understood but you could tell he wasn't happy he wanted to impress his girlfriend. You know mine is just a plain stock 78 that could use a paint job and a front seat and I am getting these offers. I can just imagine what some of yours are worth. You know this is the 10Th year I have been going to car shows and in the last 2 or 3 years it seems like the price of old cars is going out the roof. It hasn't been that long ago that a rough 60 model car was going for a grand. Now if they can get them to a show they have 5 or 6 thousand dollar
price tags on them. It hasn't been that long ago for 10 grand you could get you a pretty nice car. Now it seem it is nothing to see 20+ price tags on them. I must admit that 4 grand looked good for a second but then I thought what could I buy for that money that gets me as much attention as my Gremlin. Nothing. So I guess I will keep it until I die.
