AMC related, my old 68 AMX The Red Death I was driving down to Corpus
Christi from Houston in, and a sparrow disappeared in the ram air scoop. I had a
70 front clip on the car as many of you know. I was not sure if the sparrow, of
which there was a flock of them getting out of the way of traffic, even went in
the scoop. You have tons of birds eating on the side of the road as grain spills
off semis all up and down 59 for hundreds of miles.
Anyways, I pulled over and popped the hood. Sure enough, there is damned
little sparrow inside the rouad area of the breather base. Stunned, but alive.
Seems the little bastard has blown right thru the scoop, into Y duct, past the
flap, bounced off the chrome lid and into the side of base trapped between the
filter and side of base. I scooped him out and opened my hand and he took off
like a rocket. Might have had a neat story to tell back at nest.
There is another story about a cow and a Rambler my dad was driving in thru
Louisiana, remind me to tell it here one day. Funny, but lucky.
