Such a shame.  My dad is an AMC man and we never drove any other make
(in cars, at least) as I was growing up.  Most of them were Matadors,
really great cars.  The last one we had easily went over 200,000
miles and withstood the brutal mistreatments of my mother (who drove
badly and often went places no car was ever meant to go).
