A couple of weeks ago this fellow wrote me directly and asked 'what the
hell is wrong with AMC people?' as no one had bid his car up to reserve. I
politely wrote him back thanking him for writing and gave him some pointers that
might help him sell this car. I also pointed out similiar AMCs like this:
which was a no sale. But also mentioned the striking photos in this auction
above. You can sell a turd on ebay if you have a good photo you know.
or grilled cheese, the list is endless on what people buy. I told seller to
put good photos. Air up tires. Remove mysterious Siedfried & Roy cover from
the car. This was my actual answer and is nothing more than my intention to
possibly help the seller of this SC/360 SELL this damned thing:

Question for item #4600059525 - AMC : SC/HORNETI know exactly what you are
talking about also. And you also have some who can't even spell Hornet telling
you how many made, or it is 72, or Mopar and ilk like that. There was a nice 4dr
red 73 Hornet on ebay recently, buy it now for $2500 out of I believe FL. Poor
bastard had all sorts of 'gurus' coming out of the woodwork telling him it was a
74 'because of the headlights' when all the dumbasses had to do is look at a 73
brochure to find out it was 73. So everyone is a professional!
Two places you can post your ad free are
www.epage.com and put in ONE photo. www.craigslist.com and put in FOUR
photos.
You can put a free ad with no photo on my site under
AMC CLASSIFIEDS and also send you ad to AMO at sambo@xxxxxxxxxx and also NAMDRA at namdra@xxxxxxxx asking if they can run your ad for you. For what it is worth, note this highly detailed one stalled after the 3rd
day at $15K.
My guess is that if they relist it, it will hit same range. The
problem with listing a car on ebay over and over is it gets stigmatized. That
is, people who either bid, or 'watched' the auction know what it will get price
wise around before stalling again, and in many instance, it won't get where it
was pricewise in bids the 2nd, 3rd time around and bidders know this.
While I can't help you find anyone with cash (I also don't know your asking
price) again, there are some avenues above mentioned you can try that are not
ebay related. Not everything sells on feebay either, I'm personally 3-9 on there
in cars selling.
What I do highly suggest however if you do relist it there, look at this
auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AMC-SC-360-HORNET-AMC-71-SC-360-AMC-HORNET-THE-REAL-DEAL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ5357QQihZ011QQitemZ320035702239QQrdZ1 and copy his photos. On your auction, it took a beating from assholes on the amcforum.com NOT the amcforum.NET site but amcforum.COM that ripped it apart. My suggestion would be to copy photos similiar to what the seller has above, which are different angles, clean, clear and crisp. It shows engine, interior shots, trunk and so forth. The reason why is that is less stupid questions you would have to attmept
to answer from prospective bidders. Remember, even though some are assholes you
might think are wasting your time, all it takes is one to buy the car. I deal
with it DAILY here for 25 years, people asking baout parts or cars with no
intention of buying, only shopping around to see what all everyone might charge
for a part or car. But I answer all my emails and calls, and if they buy
something fine, if not, that fine too.
But give specific details about the vehicle in the auction should you rerun
it, change the photos, air up that tire, get the car cover off it, if you have
to spend a day detailing it outside do it, as again, this will eliminate some
stupid questions and also attract more serious bidders seeing the car is been
'taken care of' whether it runs or not who cares, at least it looks like it
has!
Again, good luck and hope some of these tips help, be sure to post your
free for sale ad on my site, and you can copy and paste same ad to epage and
craigslist also.
==========================================
I think the vehicle should sell, but there is not much of market for SC/360
Hornets. Wasn't in 1971, ain't now. Great cars, might one day come into their
own, but be serious, it ain't happened in 37 years, so you have to be realistic.
You can't just 'will' a AMC to 'higher price market'. The seller of this car DID
however change the wording on his ad in the auction, which as Bart mentioned, is
something like 8th time on ebay now. Until the seller takes some constructive
critisism/advise above and maybe washes the car off, vacuums it, moves the
Houdini cover, spends $99 cents for a can of Fix-A-Flat to air up the driver
side front tire, the car will be in Ebay Hell. That is, people will start
counting the times it has been on there, doomed like Chevy Chase in Groundhog
Day.
