Subject: E-bay scam Hi
Eddie, Here's a new twist to the e-bay scam
that I nearly fell for. The seller has a friend bid up the car, then he
offers you what looks like a legitimate second chance offer, but on your private
e-mail account, not as an e-bay message. The e-mail looks identical to an
e-mail message, down to an e-bay address. Fortunately, I told him that I
would only pay cash for the car in person. He then told me that he moved
to a different state, but promised to ship the car as soon as I Western Union
him the money. He assured me that since this was an official second chance
offer that e-bay offered me insurance on the transaction that he had already
paid for. I had a brief moment of sobriety and smelled a rat so I walked
away. The he had the balls to send me an e-mail, threatening me if I
didn't complete the deal. I sent the whole thing to e-bay fraud and they
closed him down, but who knows how many suckers he swindled? The good
news? Weeks later I bought a sun-baked, barely running 1972 AMX for
$3,000. It's a big project, but I'm already making good progress.
Thanks for providing the service that you do.
Thanks
again, Dave
