Sounds to me the choke is not engaging in the hot weather. Try putting the gas peddle to the floor and then let off and push it about 1/2 way down and see if it will run better cold. If this doesn't work you can play with the black plastic choke adjustment on the carb. If this fails you can always convert it too a manual choke.
