Since I am a dyed in the wool points man I can't help you. But I am sure
some one here can help you. If I was in your situation I also would
change from that crap prestolite to anything else. Even points are more
reliable than that crap.

I am planning to change the distributor in my 77 amx from the
prestolite to a gm hei unit. I have gotten some instructions off line
from a jeep site which outlined this conversion, but I am confused as
to which wires I need to cut/reroute/etc. I don't have a wiring
diagram, so that compounds the problem. Has anybody ever done this
conversion? Any tips would be greatly appreciated, since I don't want
to screw up anything.
